Amour Recruitment are proud to be working for this growing local business based in Portsmouth who are seeking an experienced Underwriter to manage and develop relationships with insurers, ensuring that systems & processes support, and adhere to underwriting & regulatory requirements and ensuring Sales & Service front line staff possess the required product knowledge.
Duties include:
- Dealing with allocated renewals lists
- Acting as a technical referral point within the team
- Assisting Team leader with reviewing policy wordings, creation of client letters, schedules, review of insurance docs, etc.
- To monitor on a regular basis the on-going performance of business and to assist with the provision of reports to the Finance department and Sales Team as required.
- To ensure accurate and timely new business and renewal quotations in conjunction with the appropriate Mutual Manager and Underwriting Manager
- Experience
- Experience of working within an Underwriting or Broker function
- A sound understanding of Liability and Property Insurance
- A detailed understanding, and experience of, the commercial property and liability markets
- A detailed awareness of the market and legal/industry developments which could affect the writing of business
- A strong and decisive approach to underwriting
- Proven knowledge and understanding of technical Underwriting, including reserving, earning models, IBNR and their practical application to pricing.
- Highly computer literate with experience of MSO packages
- Good problem solving skills and the experience to prioritise work and meet specified deadlines.
