Amour Recruitment are delighted to be working exclusively with a nationally recognised membership based organisation and supporting in their search for a Strategic Director. This company represents the interests of its members all across Wales and provides updates and advice to companies ranging in size from small enterprises to large multinationals, as well as maintaining close relationships with the Welsh Government at ministerial level.

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Strategic Director will be responsible for developing a clear strategic plan for the business in line with the board's agreed mission and policies. There will also be a need to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the Welsh Government, Members of the Senedd and other influential partners.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • To work with the Board to determine the vision and direction of the organisation and ensure the organisation fulfils its aims and objectives.
  • Develop and implement a strategic plan in line with the organisation’s mission and policies.
  • Providing professional, accurate and strategic advice to the Board.
  • Drive strategic initiatives and support the development of short and long term plans.
  • To develop partnerships and networks and maintain strong relationships with other agencies and key stakeholders that help its members develop the work within the sector.
  • Engaging with decision makers at all levels, including Welsh Government and Members of the Senedd.
  • Evaluating proposed legislation to determine possible effects on work-based learning and Post-16 education in Wales.
  • Influencing legislation, regulation, or other Welsh Government decisions, actions, or policies by lobbying government officials and Members of the Senedd.
  • Act as an influential catalyst and conduit to position the organisation and its members as strategic partners.
  • Responding to information requests by the Welsh Government and Members of the Senedd.
  • Create and shape opportunities for the work based learning sector.
  • Preparing and giving evidence at appropriate Senedd committees

 

Requirements and Skills:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of national and regional work-based learning and post-16 years educational environments and the policies and legal requirements which impact upon the sector in Wales
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills and an ability to engage with decision makers at all levels.
  • Politically astute; is able to read situations aptly and exhibit sound judgment.
  • Experience in working with boards of directors providing professional, accurate, and strategic advice.
  • Ability to express ideas succinctly and clearly, both verbally and through written work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Passionate about achieving high levels of excellence in education, learning and development.
  • Able to demonstrate a clear commitment to high standards and the ability to drive continuous improvement.
  • Highly professional and motivated with high levels of commitment and confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work proactively using own initiative.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with a wide range of people.
  • Ability to prioritise work and manage competing demand.

 

This role is being offered with flexibility between full and part time hours and we will consider applicants providing you are able to work a minimum of 2 days per week (Hybrid working a possibility). Salary will be £60,000 - £70,000 dependent upon relevant experience, which will be pro-rated for part time candidates.
