Our client are an Insurance broker and administrator based in Newport, South Wales.  They are a European business with offices in South Wales and Europe, who service clients in over 13 countries.  

They have ambitious growth plans over the next coming years, and for the right person this is a superb opportunity.


We are recruiting for a Qualified Accountant to join their Finance team.
Salary £40,000 with excellent benefits below:-

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the monthly close and reporting process for two operating companies ensuring robust control, processing and review.
  • Produce timely monthly management reporting, including presentation of reporting packs and detailed management information.
  • Analysis of financial data, including investigation of variances, performing relevant adjustments and providing interpretation to senior management.
  • Demonstrate strong balance sheet controls including preparation of control account reconciliations and timely follow up on any variances.
  • Completion and submission of all tax related matters e.g. VAT return, IPT return and statistical returns 
  • Fixed assets and depreciation processing and control.
  • Use of Sage 50 to make journal entries, reconciliations and extraction of reporting data.
  • Analysing costs, preparing accruals and prepayments.
  • Participation in the year end reporting process, including liaising with external auditors.
  • Designing, Implementing and maintaining internal controls and procedures.
  • To play an active role in continuous improvement projects across the business.
  • Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and other specific internal and external guidelines.
  • Line Management of a team of two Finance Administrators
  • Supporting any ad hoc project requests within the team

 

Personal Requirements/Skills – Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Group and intercompany experience would be beneficial.
  • Up-to-date technical skills and confident working knowledge of UK GAAP.
  • Exceptional organisational, time management and communication skills is required together with proven leadership capabilities.
  • Flexible approach to work and a self-motivated attitude.
  • Proactive, with the ability to generate ideas and think creatively with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Strong internal stakeholder & relationship management skills
