Fixed Term Contract: 12 months

Are you looking for the opportunity to work for a global manufacturing firm? A world leader in manufacture and supply.  We currently have a vacancy for a Buyer to work within the Purchasing department. The successful candidate will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager and is a fixed term contract for 12 months.

1. Main function of job:

The role encompasses the purchasing of direct, indirect and consumable material for our client.  The objective is to deliver a supply base capable of supporting the effective and efficient operation of the business through benchmark performance in terms of on-time delivery, cost, quality and service.  The jobholder will have solid influencing skills and a high level of integrity in order to manage supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner.

 

4. Main duties / Requirements

 

  • Benchmarking and negotiation of products with a focus on reducing cost and VA/VE.
  • Researching and reviewing of the supply chain in order to identify potential suppliers with the capability to support NASL.
  • Formulate and deploy business strategy to suppliers.
  • Managing day-to-day supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner.
  • Ensuring supplier quality performance in conjunction with the quality department.
  • The monitoring and resolution of supplier invoicing issues.
  • The evaluation, planning and transfer of supply base consolidation programmes to gain maximum leverage within commodity areas.
  • Monitor manufacturing demand/allocation in line with customer forecast and manage requirement with the most cost efficient outcome.
  • Supporting the Supply Chain Manager and the Purchasing function in general.
  • Monitor and manage resource allocation/requirement.
  • Co-ordinate with the program management team with regards to new project information.
  • The progressing of orders with suppliers to ensure on-time deliveries and chasing overdue deliveries where appropriate.
  • Ensure housekeeping standards are maintained to agreed standards to reduce waste and sustain efficient working practices.
  • Monitor manufacturing demand/Allocation in line with customer forecast and manage requirement with the most cost efficient outcome.
  • The research and review of the supply market in order to identify potential cost savings.
  • Sourcing of additional suppliers to reduce procurement risk.
  • Managing day-to-day supplier relationships in a professional and effective manner to support NASL.
  • Material to NAS OTIF, Purchase orders sent on the day of receiving requisitions. Maintaining Key Performance Indicators.
  • Positive supplier and quality communication.
  • The resolution of order queries both internally and with suppliers.
  • Reduce cost and increase efficiency with in the supply chain.
  • Minimise raw material inventory levels and ensure all raw material demand is accurate and available for manufacturing OTIF.
  • Formulation of sourcing strategies to meet the needs of the business.
  • Implement and maintain min/max levels to support the customer demand.
  • Managing new projects requirements in an effective manner to support NASL.
  • Expedite to an effective level to zero outstanding orders.
  • Implement and maintain internal control procedures.
  • These tasks are not intended as an exhaustive list of the post holder’s duties. The post holder is expected to carry out any reasonable request as deemed appropriate by the Supply Chain Manager in order to support business needs.

6. Qualifications / education required:

 

General Education:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in a procurement function.

 

Desirable Training/Certification in:

  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).

Hours of work: Monday to Thursday – 8am to 4.30pm; Friday 8am – 3pm.

Salary: £26,000pa. plus benefits
